Born January 22, 1845, Princeton, Massachusetts. Son of Marshall and Susan. An 1861 Lenox College Civil War Enlistee, Company K, 12th Iowa Infantry. Wounded and captured at Shiloh. Incarcerated at Libby Prison. Later fought and wounded at Vicksburg and Tupelo. Mustered out a 3rd Sergeant 1866. Married Margaret Kirkwood, April 15, 1868. Father of John C., Charles E., and Susan A.  A Hopkinton merchant, postmaster, banker and Lenox trustee. Died December 19, 1902.
