William Kragenbrink is one of a family of ten children and received a thorough common-school education. When a youth of seventeen years he started out in life for himself, being first employed by the month upon a farm. He displayed commendable thrift and saved his earnings and after a time rented a farm, which he successfully cultivated. He does general farming, raising both grain and stock, and his industry and good management secure him a competence.
Mr. Kragenbrink was married in February, 1903, to Miss Ida Nieman, who was born in Clayton county, this state, a daughter of William and Mary Nieman, both of whom are living in Earlville. A sketch of her parents appears else where in this work. To Mr. and Mrs. Kragenbrink have been born two children: William H., whose birth occurred on the 23d of June, 1911; and Carl H., born February 25, 1913.
Mr. Kragenbrink is a democrat in his political belief and displays a commendable interest in public affairs. He has won the respect of his fellowmen by reason of a life honorable in all respects and above any suspicion of wrong dealing.
