William V. Cattron

Veterinary Surgeon

Earlville

William V. Cattron, deceased, was one of the successful veterinary surgeons of Delaware county. He was born in the state of Indiana, March 6, 1842, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cattron, both of whom are now deceased. The family was established in Delaware county in pioneer times and has since been connected with the development and improvement of this section of the state. William V. Cattron attended school in Fayette and Epworth and his choice of a profession was made because of a natural love for horses and a natural liking and aptitude for the work. After preparing for the calling of a veterinary surgeon he settled at Earlville, Delaware county, where he successfully followed his profession until his death. He was accorded a liberal patronage, for he soon demonstrated that he had comprehensive knowledge of and ability in the line of his chosen profession.
Dr. Cattron was united in marriage to Miss Maria Gardner, a daughter of John and Jane Gardner, and to them were born three children. William is now living in Minneapolis and John is a resident of Waterloo, Iowa. The death of the husband and father occurred on the 16th of May, 1914, when he was seventy two years of age, and he was laid to rest in the cemetery near his home. In his political views he was an earnest republican and kept well informed on the questions and issues of the day. He stood for progress and improvement in all public affairs and his energy and determination, as well as his comprehensive knowledge of veterinary surgery, were elements in his success. Where ever he was known he was held in high esteem and most of all where he was best known.
