Henry A. Bergman owns a garage and automobile repair shop at Earlville and is prospering as his enterprise arid fair dealing deserve. He was born in Delaware county on the 27th of August, 1879, a son of Christian and Louisa (Lutz) Bergman, who were natives of Germany and came to America in 1867, locating upon a farm in this county. They remained here until called to their last rest. Of their seven children five survive.
     Henry A. Bergman received a common school education and remained at home until he attained his majority. He then worked for seven years at the carpenter's trade, after which he purchased a farm of one hundred and twenty acres in Colony township. He lived upon his place and cultivated the same for seven years and then removed to Earlville, establishing the garage and repair shop which he is still conducting. He has the agency for the Buick car and in the course of a year makes many sales, deriving a reasonable profit from the transactions. He also does all kinds of repairing and this branch of his business is also lucrative. His success is founded upon his detailed knowledge of automobiles and upon his fair dealing, as he always gives full value for money received.
    Mr. Bergman was married in 1907 to Miss Mary E. Holscher, who is also a native of this county. Her parents, Herman and Ada (Klaus) Holscher, are both deceased, their deaths occurring upon the same day. To their union were born seven children.
     Mr. and Mrs. Bergman are both members of the Methodist Episcopal church and the sincerity of their religious faith is attested by the integrity of their daily lives. He is a republican in his political belief and takes a commendable interest in everything relating to the public welfare, doing all in his power to promote the general well.
