VERNON - Joseph VERNON was born in Wales, in 1819, died at the Saints' Home, Lamoni, Tuesday, February 28, aged eighty-six. Mr. VERNON joined the English army in his early manhood, and was sent to Capetown, Africa, shortly after. While there he labored as a Baptist missionary. He, with his wife, removed to Utah, from thence to Sacramento and later to Oakland, California where they resided until three years ago, when they came to Lamoni to spend their remaining years at the Home. Mrs. Vernon proceeded her husband to the better land shortly after they came here, and since that time, Mr. VERNON has prayed to follow her. Death had no sting for him. The sermon was preached at the Home, Wednesday, by Elder A. H. SMITH, a long-time friend of the deceased, and the body was interred in Rosehill by the side of his faithful wife.
