A most distressing and fatal accident occurred about a mile north of Davis City Tuesday afternoon, which resulted in the instant death of FRANK TURPIN, an old soldier residing at Davis City. MR. TURPIN had been engaged in hauling wood from the timber and was on his way to Davis City with a big load, riding on the wagon. In some unknown manner his team became frightened and started to run away, and after running but a short distance the wheels ran over a small bush at the side of the road, which upset the wagon and he was thrown off and down a small ditch, the entire load of wood falling on top of him. When he fell MR. TURPIN struck on his head, the fall fracturing his skull and he was dead when picked up. The deceased was an old soldier who has resided at Davis City for a number of years, and leaves a wife and one child twenty months old to mourn his death.
