Otha O. Turpin
Otha Ola Turpin, son of John W. and Plina Turpin, was born Aug. 21, 1885, in
Arcola, Ind., and departed this life on Sept. 12, 1959, at the age of 74
years and 19 days.
He was the second of four children, all of whom have preceded him in death
except a sister, Mrs. Ida Reagan of Davenport.
As a child he moved to the Salem community, where he grew to manhood. He
spent his entire life farming in and around this vicinity and devoted his
life to his family.
He was the father of two children: a son, Glen of Lamoni, and a daughter,
Hazel Woollums of La Mesa, Calif.
Left to cherish his memory are his widow, Martha; two children; two
stepdaughters, Velma Caldbeck of Des Moines and Martha Beverly Chown of
Maryville, Mo.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister, Mrs.
Reagan; five half sisters; two half-brothers; several nieces and nephews and
a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Sept. 15, from
the Methodist church in Kellerton, conducted by Rev. Richard T. Hohl. Mr.
and Mrs. Russell Hughes sang, accompanied by Mrs. Jamie Meadows. Casket
bearers were Al Reynolds, Wert Munyon, Charlie Miller, Wayne O'Dell, Richard
O'Dell and Duane Johnson. Interment was in Maple Row cemetery at Kellerton.
