ONA MAY (PURDUN) TONEY

Ona May (Purdun) Toney was born to Isum David and Martha Ann (Oxford) Purdun

on August 19, 1915. Ona May was the ninth child of ten children born to Isum

and Martha. Ona was the last surviving member of her family. Ona peacefully

passed from this life in her home at, 425 North Walnut, Lamoni, Iowa, where

she had been lovingly cared for by her devoted husband Jay Leroy Toney. Ona

died of a worn-out body. Her heart was strong, but gave up the challenge at

3:30 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 1991 at the age of 76 years, 1 month, and 18

days. She was attended in her final moments by her husband Jay, son Julian,

Julian's wife Anita, and their children, Talton and Cameo Toney.

Toney Services Set For Thursday

Ona May (Purdun) Toney age 76, wife of Jay Leroy Toney, left this life at

the Toney home 425 North Walnut, Lamoni, Iowa at 3:30 p.m. Sunday October 6,

1991. Ona died of a worn out body. Ona was the last to die of ten brothers

and sisters, born of Isum David and Martha Ann (Oxford) Purdun. She leaves

to mourn besides her husband, two sons, and their wives and children, Royal

Lee and Jenny Toney, Antioch, California, Julian Jay and Anita Toney,

Lamoni, Iowa. Two step-children, Janice Patricia (Toney) and husband Michael

Brady, Toledo, Ohio. Franklin Leroy and wife Sarah (Reffe) Toney of

Scottsdale, Arizona and several Purdun nieces and nephews.
