DALE E. TONEY
Dale E., son of Leonard and Edna Williams Toney, was born June 2, 1930 near
Lamoni Iowa. He met with the fatal accident which happened while bulldozing
at the McClure farm near Terre Haute, November 14, 1958 at the age of 28
years, five months and 12 days. Dale accepted Christ at an early age of 12
at the Christian revival meeting in Terre Haute. He was a member of the
Decatur American Legion, Post 599, also the Leon Grand River Lodge No. 78,
A. F. and A. M., which he was an active member.
He spent the first one and one-half years of his life on a farm near Lamoni.
With his family he moved near Terre Haute where the family lived until 20
years of age. He then moved to a farm near the Euritt bridge until he
entered the U. S. Air Force for which he served his country four years.
After returning from service, he engaged in farming near the old Ranch
schoolhouse and later moved into Decatur where they make their present home.
He was united in marriage in 1952 to Rosetta Mae Edgington of Lamoni and to
this union three children were born, Beverly Jean five, Judy Kay, two and
one-half and Ray Dean, one and one-half.
Those surviving him are his wife and three children, parents Len and Edna
Toney of Decatur, one sister Dolly Dickinson, husband and two sons of
Russell, Iowa, on brother Doyle and wife of Decatur, also grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Ed Williams of Leon, father and mother-in-law and Mrs. Russell
Edgington of Lamoni, several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of relatives,
neighbors and friends.
Services were held from the Stewart funeral home, Leon on Sunday, November
16, 1958 at 2:00 o'clock p. m. conducted by George R. Lamb, pastor of the
Assembly of God church. The singers Connie Gumm, Edith Gumm, accompanist W.
C. Gumm. Bearers were Dale Myers, Chet Cartwright, Mickey Norman, Reese
Bucker, Doyle, Dale, Jay, Toney.
Interment was made in the Decatur cemetery,
A precious one, from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled: A place is
vacant in our home. Which never can be filled. God in His Wisdom has
recalled. The boon his love had given. And though the body slumbers here.
The soul is safe in heaven.
Card of thanks: We desire to express our kind neighbors and thoughtful
friends our heartfelt thanks for their many expressions of sympathy. The
beautiful floral offerings .were especially appreciated.
