Birde Alice, daughter of C. W. SUTHERLIN and Louisa SHAFFNER SUTHERLIN, was

born near Davis City, Iowa December 24, 1874 and died May 30, 1971 at

Westview Acres, Leon, Iowa at the age of 96 years, 5 months and 6 days.

Birde accepted Christ as her Savior when just a young woman. She received

her education in the Davis City vicinity and taught school a few years

before uniting in marriage to Arthur L. TEALE. To this union were born six

children. Two daughters survive. They are Maude Harriet DOWNEY, Davis City,

Iowa and Julia Edmondean MOSS, Des Moines, Iowa. Her husband Art, and four

children, Mary L. WILEY, James W. TEALE, Louisa C. HASCALL and Arthur

("Pete") TEALE preceded her in death.

Surviving are one sister, Netta MARBLE, Burbank, Calif.; 14 grandchildren;

and 3 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
