JOHN E. TAYLOR was born in Wapello County, Iowa, in l844. In l86l he

volunteered in the Sixty-ninth Ohio Infantry and was discharged in the

fall of the following year for disability. In l863, he re-enlisted in

an Iowa regiment. Two years later he was pronounced insane and taken to

Mt. Pleasant for treatment. He was finally returned as incurable.

His death occurred March 6. W.H.F.
