WILLIAM ANDERSON TONEY
William Anderson Toney, the second son of William R. and Ery Ann Toney was
born in Morgan county, Indiana, Dec. 1, 1850 being at the age of 87 years, 7
months and 26 days at his passing. He came with his parents to Decatur
county at the age of 5 years and has been a resident ever since.
He was united in marriage to Mary Seymour in I 872. To this union there were
three children born, two preceding him in death. Matilda Barth, where from
unknown, his wife, preceded him in death In 1878.
In 1887 he was united In marriage to Martha Melissa Arvin and to this union
five children were born, two of them dying in infancy. Those left to mourn
his departure are his wife and three sons: William T. and James T. of, Davis
City, and Leonard of Decatur; nine grandchildren: Mae Williams, Flossie
South, Dawaye, Opal, Wanita, Luva Toney of Davis City, Dolly, Dale Arid,
Doyle of Decatur, and three great grandchildren: Ernest Wayne Williams
preceding him in death, Donald South and Luella Williams of Davis City; six
brothers and two sisters, three brothers haying preceded him in death. Those
left to mourn his departure are: Lewis C. of Denver, Colorado, Charles A.,
of Leon, John W. of Osceola, Charlotte Bennett of Davis city, Nancy Salsbury
of Cobern, Oregon.
He was a kind and loving husband and father and will he greatly missed by
all his many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at Leon conducted by Rev, Geo. R. Lamb. Interment
was made in Terre Haute cemetery.
