WELDON NEWS:
PEARL TANSEY, the little daughter of MR. and MRS. CHARLIE TANSEY, was
taken sick early last week with an attack of appendicitis but was not
thought to be dangerously ill until Wednesday, the day of her
grandmother TANSEY's funeral, she grew rapidly worse and Dr. Mitchell,
of Osceola, was called in counsel with Dr. Ayres, the family physician,
and her case was pronounced serious. Thursday, there was no hope of her
recovery without a surgical operation being performed which was hoped
might prolong her life. It was done by Dr. Mitchell, assisted by Drs.
Eiker, of Leon, C.H. Mitchell, of New Virginia, and Dr. Ayres. The
appendix was found to be ruptured and pus formed. She rallied after the
operation but her blood was so poisoned that nothing could save her.
Her young life went out Saturday evening at about six o'clock.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the M.E. Church. Rev. Bourne
preached the sermon. The building was filled with sympathizing friends
and relatives. The service was a beautiful one. The casket almost
completely covered with the choicest flowers and the floral decorations
about the pulpit and altar were beautiful. Her boy schoolmates were
pall bearers. Interment was in the Green Bay Cemetery where her
grandmother was laid to rest only last Wednesday. She was almost l4
years of age and her grandmother almost 74 years of age, their birthday
anniversary being on the same day and both dying within a week seems
like a very strange coincidence. It was a very sad death and certainly
the parents especially, have the heartfelt sympathy of all.
