GEORGE N. TALLMAN was born in Pickaway Co., Ohio, Nov. 2lst, l820, and

died at his late residence in Leon, Iowa, March 7th, l903, being 82

years, 3 months and l6 days of age. In the year l846, he was married

near New Hollom, Ohio, to ANN WOLLSON. Two years later in the month of

February, MRS. TALLMAN died. To this union there was born one child, a

daughter, MRS. MARY HARMON, who was present at the funeral services. In

the year l855, on the l0th day of Sept. he was married in Washbaugh,

Ohio, to MISS HARRIET ANN GRULLS, who survives him.

MR. TALLMAN was converted in early life and joined the M.E. Church of

which he has always been a faithful and consistant member. After the

death of his first wife he was impressed with the duty of being a

Missionary. After quite extensive preparation for this work of carrying

the news of salvation to the teaming multitudes of India, he was

compelled to change his plan. In the fall of l856, with his family he

moved to Claytin Co., Ill. and in the following year moved to Decatur

Co., Iowa, where he has since resided.

Father TALLMAN has always enjoyed the respect and confidence of the

people of the community. His death removes one of the conspicuous

landmarks among the old settlers of the county. Funeral services were

conducted at his late home on Sunday, March 8th, by Rev. I.N. Woodward,

assisted by Rev. W.H. Ilsley of the Presbyterian Church. Interment was

made in the Leon Cemetery.
