EMMA STEVENS, a l7-year-old pauper at the county farm, gave birth to an

illegitimate child Tuesday night. She is the daughter of MARTHA

STEVENS, for many years an inmate of the insane ward, and presistently

maintains that her father, a resident of another county, is the author

of her ruin.
