CORYDON STANLEY was born in the State of New York, April, l8l2, and died
at the home of his son, EUGENE STANLEY, in Bloomington Township, Decatur
County, Iowa, April l0, l905, aged 93 years and 8 days.

His parents moved to northwestern Pennsylvania when he was about twelve
years old. He was married to ANNIE E. VAN WINKLE, September l9, l833,
and to that union were born ten children, four girls and six boys. Of
these two girls and four boys are living. The family came to Iowa in
the spring of l865. A happy married life of nearly sixty-five years was
broken by the death of the wife and mother, August 23, l898. In youth
and middle age, he led a busy, active life, but after the death of his
wife he seemed to lose all interest in living, and often said he longed
for death.

He was an honorable, upright citizen, an affectionate husband and
father, and although dead he yet lives in memory.
