Last Tuesday, MRS. LUCINDA SPENCER passed away at her home after a
severe illness of just four weeks. Her daughter-in-law, MRS.
KIRKPATRICK, and the nurse, were with her in her last moments which were
very peaceful. She had been a resident of this community for forty
years, always known as a woman of pure Christian character and will be
missed by a host of friends, who loved her and trusted in her friendship
because of her real worth.

OBITUARY - LUCINDA (EDSON) SPENCER.

LUCINDA EDSON was born in Oneida County, New York, June 27, l827, and
was converted and united with the Congregational Church in l860. She
was married to NELSON SPENCER in l865. "Be thou faithful unto death and
I will give thee a crown of life"--Rev. 2:l0. Grandma SPENCER fell
asleep in Jesus at her home in Van Wert, January 30, l905, aged 78
years.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. R.J. Tennant who spoke from
Psalms l7:l5. She was laid to rest in the Van Wert Cemetery to await
the resurrection morn.

Grandma, dear, has gone and left us;
Left us here to weep and mourn;
Mourn for whom death has taken
And from us has rudely torn.
Many hearts were sad and aching
When they saw her suffer so
But remember all must suffer;
It's our wages here below.

Grandma, dear, was kind and gentle
Loved by many far around;
Now their hearts are sad and lonely
Since they laid her in the ground.
She is resting, sweetly resting,
'Neath the cold and silent clay.
But we hope to see her living
With the blessed some glorious day.

Some bright day when from Heaven
Jesus comes in glory clad;
Every tear will then be banished
Every saddened heart made glad.
Shall we meet her over yonder,
Clothed in robes of linen white,
When the blessed shall live forever
Peaceful days and no dark night?

May our Lord and blessed Savior
Look upon her friends here;
Console and comfort while in sorrow
They have lost an aunt dear.
Now, dear friends, look to Jesus,
He it is who knows your grief;
He it is who shares your trials;
He it is who gives relief.

MISS LAURA WARNSTAFF.
