D.F. SNETHEN, a prominent business man of Pleasanton, died at the
Bicknell Hotel in that place last Friday night, after an illness of two
weeks' duration. He was for many years in the lumber business in
partnership with Joe Leeper. He had recently engaged in the real estate
business in St. Joseph, Mo. About three weeks ago he came to Pleasanton
and purchased Early's stock of goods. The remains were laid at rest in
the Hamilton Cemetery and a large concourse of people attended the
obsequies.

OBITUARY - DAVID F. SNETHEN:
DAVID F. SNETHEN was born February l5, l866, at Bradford, Ill., and died
at Pleasanton, Iowa, October 2, l908.
He was married to ISABELLA SMITH, July l7, l889. He leaves a wife, five
children, an aged mother, four brothers, two sisters and two half
sisters, besides a host of friends to mourn his loss. He, with his
wife, moved to Pleasanton in l890, remaining there till May, l907, when
he moved to Artesia, New Mexico, moving from there in March, l908 to St.
Joseph, coming back to Pleasanton in September. He with his partner,
Charles Smith, were negotiating for the Early stock of goods and store
buildings owned by F.R. Elmore, but before the invoice was completed,
MR. SNETHEN was stricken down with illness on September 22nd and
continued to grow worse till his death, which occurred October 2nd.
His funeral services were held in the L.D.S. Church, conducted by Elder
Heman C. Smith, assisted by Elder Moroni Traxler, both of Lamoni. He
was a member of the Masonic order, the I.O.O.F. and M.W.A. The members
of these orders having charge of the services at the cemetery where his
body was laid to rest. It has been said of him that he had as many, if
not more friends, than any other man in Decatur County.
We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his widow and children and commend
them to Him who doeth all things well.
