March 30, l899

JOHN SNETHEN died at his home six miles south of Davis City, aged 80

years, 2 months and l day.

The deceased was born in the state of New Jersey, January 25, l8l9.

When a young man he was married to a lady whose name is unknown to the

writer. To this union was born one child, MRS. JOHN SMITH, of near

Pleasanton, Iowa. After the loss of his first wife, the deceased united

in marriage with CHRISTINA JORDAN in the state of Illinois in the year

l868. Deceased was the father of nine children, seven boys and two

girls. All of his children are living and were at the funeral except

two sons who preceded their father to the great beyond. He united with

the Saints Church when a young man. It was his request that the funeral

sermon be preached from the l9th chapter of Job. He had been an invalid

for the past eight years and had been unable to walk during that time.

The funeral services werre conducted by Elder Fred Blair at the old

home. The remains were laid at rest in the Seymour Cemetery.
