OBITUARY:

Thomas Richard Roberts was the son of Richard and Nancy (Berryman) Roberts and was born in McLean County, Illinois on March 14, 1864. He departed this life on December 28, 1937 at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 14 days.

At the age of 5, he moved with his family to Westerville, Iowa where he grew to manhood.

September 15, 1889, he was united in marriage to Laura Landes, also of Westerville. To this union were born five girls and three boys. One daughter preceded him in death in 1915 (Blanche Roberts Tullis).

Mr. Roberts led a very active life and was a great lover of nature. He was a kind and considerate husband and Father. He is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. Jack Lawrence of Bloomington, Illinois and seven children namely: Ralph and Frank Roberts, Cheyenne, Wyoming; Clarence Roberts and Ruth Studebaker, Des Moines; Mrs. Paul (Grace) Chastain, Leon, Iowa;Mrs. Frank (Bernice) Hockensmith, El Monte, California; Mrs. John William (Mildred) Alley, Guthrie Center, Iowa. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Stewart Funeral Home Thursday, conducted by Rev. C. B. Rayhill. Burial was in the Leon Cemetery.
