MARY J. SPRIGGS was born at Washington, Penn., Jan. 2l, l843. She was left an orphan in early childhood and was reared by her grandparents in West Virginia, where she made the profession of religion and united with the Presbyterian church in l859. Later on she severed her connection with that church; and in l882 joined the Methodist Church, of which she was a member at the time of her death.

In August, l865, at Wheeling, W. Va., she was united in marriage to HENRY REED, who has shared her joys and sorrows, tenderly watching over her during her last illness and is now left to mourn the loss of his life's partner.

Her death occurred Thursday, Feb. l8, l904, at the age of 6l years, 28 days. The funeral, conducted by Rev. Bingaman, was held yesterday at the M.E. Church, and the remains were interred in the Davis City Cemetery.

Seven children were born to her, three of whom died in infancy; a son in early manhood and a married daughter also preceded her to the Great Beyond. A married daughter residing at Fullerton, Neb., and her husband are alone left to mourn her demise.
