CLYDE MONROE, son of MR. and MRS. J.F. PARSONS, was born near Leon, Iowa, July 22, l88l, and died at the home of his brother, JAMES, in Pleasanton, Iowa, the night of July 2l, l902, lacking only a few short hours of being 2l years old. He lived with his parents near Leon until about four years ago, when they moved to Henry County, Missouri, he going with them.

A little over a year ago, CLYDE was taken sick and the best of medical skill seemed to do him no good and finally his physicians, about five or six months ago, advised a change of climate, thinking some good could be had from it. Having been raised in this county, it was only natural that he thought his health could be regained here, hence he came here to his brother's. About six weeks ago, he took to his bed and the very best of care, watching and medical skill were used to alleviate his suffering, but it was only paliative. CLYDE had run his race of usefulness. The scythe was fast being weilded by Father Time and death was fast, claiming her own; until at last, the light of life began to flicker, smolder, flash a little, then go down, then brighten again, the watchers and loved ones all being expectant that God in His great mercy would spare the soul a little longer. Then a dull expression, labored breathing, a far away look of the sunken eyes, rigid muscles, a quiver and all is over. Suffering here is no more. The spirit has returned to the God who gave it. He leaves three sisters and six brothers to mourn his death, besides a loving father and mother to whom he was always dutiful and respected much.

The remains were taken to Leon Wednesday and laid to rest in the Manchester Cemetery near that town. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of all the community and friends.
