ALEXANDER PARKER was born in Ohio Oct. 9th, l824, and departed this life Nov. 6th, l897, aged 73 years and 29 days. When a young man he moved with his parents to Park County, Indiana, living at that place until l884. He then moved to Decatur Co., Ia. where he lived with his oldest son, JOHN PARKER until the time of his death. He was married to MISS SUSAN COMMACK in l846. To them were born ten children, of which six still remain, his wife having preceded him twenty-nine years.

Two children are living in California, three in Decatur County, and one in Davis County, Iowa. A host of other relatives and friends mourn his loss. His youngest brother died Oct. 5, l897.

The funeral was conducted at the Union Church Monday afternoon by Rev. Edward Newland of this place. The remains were taken to Bloomington, Davis County for interment, Monday.

Father, sleep on now, and take thy rest,
Rest for the toiling hand;
Rest for the anxious brow,
Rest for the weary way-sore feet,
Rest from all labor now.
