MRS. C. PULLEN FATALLY HURT NEAR DECATUR (1935)

Thrown From Wagon Load of Wood Last Week as Wheel Struck Rut

Mrs. Chester Pullen, 38, farmer's wife, living five miles west of

Decatur, died at the Decatur county hospital Sunday morning from injuries

received in an accident which occurred late Wednesday afternoon when she

was thrown from a wagon load of wood.

Mrs. Pullen was riding with her husband on top of the load of wood down

a long hill on highway number 3, five and one-half miles west of

Decatur, when the accident happened. The right rear wheel dropped into a rut

near a guard rail which threw Mrs. Pullen off the wagon and over a

guard rail. The rear wheel caught her right leg, horribly lacerating it

from the knee nearly to the ankle.

Mrs. Pullen was removed to the Decatur county hospital the following

morning. Tetanus and tissue gas developed.

Besides her husband she leaves seven children. Funeral services were

held from the F. S. Stewart Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon with

intermint at the Decatur cemetery.
