Decatur County Journal
August l4, l890

MRS. SARAH I. CASTER-PITMAN died August ll, l890.  Was born in North
Carolina, May 27th, l836. Came to Leon in l854, when the town was just
starting, with her father's family and while she was yet single.

Her father was JAMES PARSONS, who moved to Utah a few years ago and
there died.

She was married, September 29, l856, to SAMUEL CASTER, father of J.M.
and J.A. CASTER, of this city.

November 8th, l872, SAMUEL CASTER died leaving her, while the two boys
were small.

She was married to ED. K. PITMAN, January 3l, l875.  She joined the
Christian Church 27 years ago and ever lived the life becoming a true
Christian.

She was exceptionally true and brave for the right at all times and fear
or faltering were not known to her.

She was an agreeable and considerate companion and a most affectionate
and careful mother.

It was her delight to please and cheer her friends and neighbors.  Her
cheerful nature did not forsake her even in suffering, as during her
last illness she was jovial to a surprising degree.

In every relation of life she was a success, so to speak, and was an
adornment to everything with which she came in contact.

Her last sickness came as a thief in the night, but she met it
heroically and fearlessly, but the fates decreed she must lose.  She has
at least ascended her Hill of Hope to reap the fruition on the other
side.  She will be missed, as one whose place is hard to fill, by all
who knew her.

Her funeral took place, August l2, from her late residence, simple
services being conducted by ELDER JONES

May the flowers keep green above her.
