Harley George Petty was born Aug. 17, 1893 in Woodland Township of Decatur CO.,IA and died at Leon, Iowas June 25, 1982, age 88 years, 10 months and 9 days. He was the son of Alfred and Rosa Ward Petty.
Harley received his schooling at South Woodland in Decatur Co.
On March 18, 1914 he was married to Alta Maria Lockwood at the Leon Methodist Church. To this union nine children were born.
He lived most of his life as a farmer and working on road maintenance in Woodland Township. He then retired to his home in Osceola.
He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Alta; daughter, Georgia Kost; 2 sons; Lyle Dean and Reed; 3 grandchildren; 4 sisters and 5 brothers.
Survivors include 3 sons: Gale and wife, Donna, Denver, CO.; Neil and wife, Lucille, Humeston; and Gary and wife, Marietta, Garden Grove; 3 daughters; Waynoka Moore and husband H. Stanley, Osceola; Maxine Vaughn and husband, Raymond, Manteca, CA and Shirley Petty, Leon; son-in-law, Ivan Kost, Humeston; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grand children; brother, Donald, Lineville; sister, Edith Snow of Florida; other relatives and friends.
