Clara Cornelia Lentz Patton

Clara Cornelia Lentz, daughter of Jacob L. and Jane Lentz, was born in Decatur county, Iowa on December 12, 1877, and departed this life September 18, 1946, at the age of 68 years, nine months and six days. She was the youngest of eleven children, all having preceded her in death. She was born and lived her entire life on the farm where she passed away.

In 1901 she was united in marriage with Edward M. Patton, who passed away November 12, 1911. To this union four children were born, one dying in infancy. She is survived by three children: Mrs. Alice Sears of St. Charles; Mrs. Josephine Pitman of Leon and Del[..]a Patton of the home and who cared for her all during her long illness; also eleven grandchildren and one great grandson, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

She was a kind and loving person. Her home life was spent in enjoying her children and mother nature along with relatives, friends and neighbors. She remained faithful to all who knew her.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. Roy Donelson of Lineville were held at the East church in Woodland on Friday, September 20, 1946. Burial in the Leon cemetery.

Rites Held Friday for Mrs. Clara Patton

Mrs. Clara Patton, 68, who had been ill for a long time, died at her country home near Woodland Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services were held at the Union church in Woodland at 2:30 p.m. Friday with interment at the Leon cemetery. She was the widow of Ed Patton. Mrs. Harl Pitman of Leon is a daughter. She leaves two other children, Mrs. W. H. Sears, St. Charles, and D. E. Patton of Woodland.
