ISAAC PUGH was a native of Virginia. The family emigrated to Ohio in
l824 locating in Licking County, Ohio. In l845 he located in Iowa,
living in Des Moines and Louisa Counties until l856 when he removed to
his late home in Center Township and resided there continuously ever
since. He was twice married. His first wife was ELIZABETH FITTRO, of
Licking County, Ohio. To them was born a daughter, now the wife of
ISAAC DOAN, who resides in Oregon. MRS. PUGH died about the year l844
in Ohio. He married his second wife in l846, and to them were born
eight children--six sons and two daughters. Two sons and a daughter
have preceded them to that better land.
ISAAC PUGH and his wife were pioneers who located in Iowa in l845, and
have seen and aided in the transformation of Iowa from its original to
its present developed condition. They were industrious, honest, moral
people who lived upright lives and performed all the duties required of
them. They have lived to see their children grow to honorable manhood
and womanhood. Finally, they have passed from time to the eternity of
God, let us hope, to be blessed forever more.
