Subject: OBITUARY - LAURA ISABEL(COOK)POWELL.

LAURA ISABEL COOK was born in Keokuk County, Iowa, February 27, l860,

and came to this county with her father twenty-eight years ago. She was

married to LEANDER POWELL, January 27, l880, and of this union there

were born four children--two of whom, with the father and husband,

survive her.

During the pastorate of Rev. Jeffrey, eight years ago, she united with

the M.E. Church and lived a consistent Christian life until the time of

her death. For about three years, she has been in failing health, yet

her affliction was borne with patience. She passed away at her home in

Leon, Saturday evening at 8 o'clock, December 3l, l898. The funeral

services were conducted at the residence by Rev. J.f. Gibson, her

Pastor, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Leon Cemetery.
