M.F. POTTORFF died at the home of his nephew, W.S. POTTORFF, about four
miles northwest of town, Monday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock after three
days illness with pneumonia. He enjoyed his usual health until
Saturday, when he was stricken with the disease which terminated fatally
in spite of all that medical skill could do. The funeral services were
held at the house on Wednesday, after which interment was made in the
Shy Cemetery.
The deceased was born in Indiana, November 2, l844, and was therefore

years, 5 months and ll days old at the time of his death. His father's
name was GIDEON POTTORFF. His mother's maiden name was SUSAN ALTHAUS
and his parents were born in Kentucky. The deceased lived for many
years in Wayne County where he was recognized as a man of industrious
habits and excellent character. During the past two years, he has made
his home with MR. and MRS. W.S. POTTORFF. He never married. His was
a
simple life, but wherever he made his home he commanded the respect
and
the good will of all who knew him.
When MR. POTTORFF was seized with illness last Saturday, he felt that
death was near and he called in an attorney and made his final
dispositions. To his nephew, W.S. POTTORFF, he bequeathed the farm
of
l05 acres on which he resided.
