Subject: OLD MAN DIES ON TRAIN - P.F. POOLE.

P.F. POOLE died yesterday morning upon Burlington train No. lll, just

before the train arrived at the Union station platform from Kansas City

at 9:45 o'clock. Death is believed to have been due to heart failure.

An inquest will be held at Heaton's undertaking rooms today by Coroner

Richmond.

POOLE is an old man and was on his way from Bryant, Douglas County, Mo.,

to Leon, Iowa, where a son, F.A. POOLE lives. A telegram was sent to

the latter by Coroner Richmond, and he is expected here today.

POOLE was engaged in selling fruit trees in Southern Missouri, G.W.

Atkinson, an employee of the A.M. Brown Transfer Company, at Florence,

boarded the train upon which POOLE died. He saw the aged man and

noticed that he appeared to be very ill. When the Union station

platform was reached a passenger discovered that POOLE was dead.

The body was shipped from St. Joseph to Davis City Saturday and was

buried that evening in New Salem Cemetery 8 miles south of Leon on the

Pleasanton Road. Deceased was a former resident of Eden Township but

had been living in southern Missouri for three or four years.
