CHARLOTTE CARTER PIERCE was born in Slesford, England, March l2, l8l6,

and died January 4, l899, aged 82 years, 9 months 29 days. She was

twice married while yet in England. Two children were born by the first

union; one dying in infancy, and the other, a son, is yet living in

Illinois. She came over from England in l867, and settled in York state

for a year, removing thence to Cambridge, Ill., where she made her home

until l894, when she came to this county with her adopted daughter, MRS.

HENRY MIDDLEBROOK, with whom she has made her home since the death of

her second husband. She was confirmed in the Episcopal Church in her

girlhood and ever lived in that faith.

Funeral services were conducted by Elder L.M. Kob, at the house, January

6, after which the remains were taken to her former home, Cambridge,

Ill., for interment; MR. and MRS. HENRY MIDDLEBROOK accompanying the

remains.
