JOSEPH PETERS, a former resident of this city, died at his home in

Akron, Iowa, May l2, of hemorrhage of the stomach, aged 46 years. He

was well known in this city, having been connected with J.R. BASHAW in

the jewelry and book business.

During his residence in Leon, he was married to MISS ZULA WHARTON and

two children--both girls--were the result of the union. The eldest of

these children died two years ago and the remains of the father were

brought to Leon and laid beside the child.

Short funeral services were held at the home of J. HOFFHINES, conducted

by REV. GURLEY.
