MRS. SOPHRONIA PATTERSON died at the home of her daughter, MRS. J.R.

BASHAW, in this city, Monday, July 9th, after a short illness of a few

hours, at the advanced age of 83 years.

The funeral was held from the house yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock by

REV. G.M. HUGHES, in the presence of a large number of relatives and

friends, and the remains were laid to rest in the Leon Cemetery. Her

surviving children were all present with the exception of MRS. M.J.

WARNER, who is visiting in Washington, and MRS. FRANK TAYLOR, of

Chicago. They are, MRS. J.R. BASHAW, Leon; MINT PATTERSON, Saline, Mo.;

MRS. GEORGE HALE, Ottumwa; MRS. EUNICE BIDDLE, Centerville; MRS. THOMAS

TEALE, of Leon; and MRS. JOHN KALBACH, of Oskaloosa. Her grandchildren,

WADE WARNER, of Pekay, and FLOYD PATTERSON, of Cainsville, Mo., were

also here.

The bereaved family has the sympathy of all.
