Decatur County Journal

November l6, l899

WILLIAM HYMAN MCKEE, son of J.M. and PAULINA MCKEE, died at his

brother's residence three miles north of Van Wert, on Wednesday of last

week, aged 43 years, 9 months and l day. He was born and reared to

manhood in Mercer County, Mo. In l879 he moved with his parents to

Decatur County.

The subject of this sketch was an honest, upright and obliging young

man, but he lacked the one thing needful to make him truly happy through

time and eternity. Six weeks prior to his death, he was a stranger to

saving grace. At that time the writer talked to him of the goodness of

God and his need of salvation. He seemed ready to accept, seemingly

awaiting a little encouragement to yield himself to the Lord. I visited

him a few times after this but he could not fully realize his

acceptance. After pointing him to the willingness of Jesus to receive

all that come unto Him, his faith became strong enough to accept the

Savior.

The funeral services were held by the writer at the late home of the

deceased, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Whittecar

Cemetery.

REV. B.F. BROWN.
