February 27, l902

WM. MCCORD was born in Durham, Canada, October 3l, l857, and died at his
home in Mt. Ayr, Iowa, Tuesday, February ll, l902, after a lingering
illness of over a year. The deceased with his parents moved to Ohio,
when but a boy, then afterwards to Decatur County, Iowa, in l87l, where
he lived on a farm till grown to manhood. In March, l880, he married
MISS HATTIE ELLIS of Leon, Iowa, to which union four children were born,
namely: GERTRUDE SALTZMAN, DALE, JOHN W., and a boy who died in
infancy. MR. MCCORD united with the Christian Church at Davis City in
l882, and from that time has always lived an upright and Christian life.

The deceased leaves a wife and three children, besides a mother, one
brother and four sisters, all who mourn for the loss of a beloved
husband, father, son and brother. His mother, brother JOHN and sister
BELLE reside in Inyo County, California. MRS. A. ASBACH and MRS. ALONZO
MARBEL in Davis City, and MRS. S.E. NEWMAN in Lamoni, Iowa.

MCCORD was conscious to the last and when the Savior called him he was
prepared to go. Calling his family to his side, he implored them to
always lead an upright and Christian life, and to tell his friends that
if he had ever wronged them he wanted their forgiveness. He said all
there was in life was health and the happiness derived from living a
Christian life. The funeral services were conducted by Elder Swan of
the Christian Church and the remains were laid to rest in the Rose Hill
Cemetery at Mt. Ayr.
