VAN WERT NEWS:
MRS. EMELINE MCCLINTOCK, who owned the Isaiah Thompson farm, passed away
last Friday. She suffered much for over a week from erysipelas and a
stroke of paralysis, which ended her life. Her daughters, MRS. JOHN
FIERCE and MRS. PIERCE, of Kansas, and her daughter, LILLIE, who lived
with her mother, were constantly by her side. Her funeral was held
Sunday at the M.E. Church, Rev. Flickinger conducting the services,
assisted by Rev. Regan of the Christian Church, and many of this
congregation attended the services. The bereaved family have the
sympathy of their many friends. She was laid away in the Van Wert
Cemetery in a steel vault having six locks on each side, where she
awaits the resurrection.

OBITUARY - MRS. EMELINE (FIERCE) MCCLINTOCK.
MRS. EMELINE MCCLINTOCK, a resident of Decatur County for nine years,
passed away at her home near Van Wert on Friday. She had been sick but
four days.
EMELINE FIERCE was born in Hamilton County, Indiana, September l2,
l83l. She was united in marriage to ALEXANDER MCCLINTOCK, December l5,
l850. They moved to Kansas in the year l885. Her husband died April
l0, l888. She, with her family, remained there until the year l897,
then moved to Iowa, where she lived until the time of her death.
MRS. MCCLINTOCK has seven children living and two dead. Those living
are: MRS. LITTLE and MRS. CROSSON, of Indiana; MRS. J.C. FIERCE and MRS.
CHARLES MUSSELMAN, of Decatur County; MRS. R.C. PIERCE, of Kansas, and a
son and daughter at home. All of the children, excepting two were at
their mother's bedside when she died.
MRS. MCCLINTOCK, with her husband, was converted in the Methodist Church
soon after they were married and always remained members of the same
until death.
Funeral services were held in the M.E. Church in Van Wert. Text: John
l7:24. May He who comforteth as a mother be the consolation of the
bereaved family.
