Dovie Maedean Mattson 79, of Phoenix Arizona, died July 21, 2001 in her home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Herald Mattson and one great grandchild. She was born in Davis City, Iowa on March 10, 1922, and moved to Phoenix in 1944 from Omaha, Nebraska transferring her job as a telephone operator. Dovie had two loves in her life - her faith in God and her family. Her faith in God was manifested throughout her life by witnessing for the Lord and sharing her faith with family, friends and whomever she came in contact with. She was active in church work, serving as a Junior High leader for many years and participating in the founding of several churches and a Christian school. She was a member of Palmcroft Baptist Church. Her love of family was always in the forefront of her life. She enjoyed entertaining at home and hosted countless family dinners and holiday parties. She selflessly gave of her time, energy and resources to her family and was affectionat!

ely known as Mom, Grandma, Sis, and Aunt Dovie. She will be greatly missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her and being loved by her. She is survived by two daughters, Carol Wolfe (Lionel) and Deborah Gleason (Phil) both of Peoria, 12 grandchildren, 17 great and 4 great, great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Vella Wolverton of Missouri, Pearl Johnson of Phoenix, Charlotte Bowman of Peoria and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Thursday, July 26th at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 North 59th Avenue and services celebrating her life will he held at Chapel of the Chimes at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 27th, with a graveside service to follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery. Contributions to Miracle Offering (Missions Program), Palmcroft Baptist Church, 15825 North 35th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona.
