ADELIA F. SEARS was born in Lee County, Iowa, April 30, l84l; married to

R.D. MARTIN December 4, l870; died August l3, l892.

Having known and been intimately acquainted with the deceased from

infancy, I feel impelled to write a few words to the bereaved. Death

has come very near us in taking away our dear sister. She was a good

child, a kind and loving companion and as a mother, unexcelled. Her

last long and painful illness was borne with Christian fortitude and

patience; trusting her unseen, though present and glorious Savior,

through whom she hoped for eternal salvation, with all the blessed in

that better world where there is no more sorrow or pain--where all is

pure and just and holy.

We are thankful for the general and heartfelt sympathy manifested in our

bereavement by the extended circle of friends and relatives but our

great consolation is that she believed in the Savior, blessed and holy

and on the "farther shore" we expect to meet her, and all the tried and

the true, in that state of eternal blessedness that is by our Heavenly

Father provided for all those who hold out faithful to the end.
