CATHERINE ASBACH was born in Ober Dollendorf, near Bonn, Germany, July 24, l842. In l853 her father moved his family to this country and settled in Decatur County on a farm near Davis City, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to R.C. MCNELLY on April 27, l870, to which union four children were born, one son and three daughters.

In l874 they moved to Harrison County, Mo., and settled on a farm 2 l/2 miles south of Andover, where the family now reside. She died at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, where she was being treated for cancer, Nov. 26, l90l, leaving a husband, three children, one grandson, two brothers, one sister and a host of friends to mourn her loss.

Her remains were brought home and tenderly laid to rest in the Andover Cemetery beside her little daughter who preceded her. Peace to her memory.
