EMMA WARD was born in Decatur County, Nov. 29, l856. She attended school at Leon, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood and was married to T.B. MCCREADY, Jan. 2l, l877. She accepted Christ early in life, united with the M.E. Church, and lived an exemplary life until March 20, l90l, when at 2 o'clock p.m. her spirit took its flight to God who gave it.
"None knew her but to love her" can be truly said. Always kind and forbearing, ever ready to excuse and forgive the faults of others, she won a place in the hearts of all who knew her. She was patient in her affliction and ever lifted a smiling face from the pillow of suffering to all who waited with loving hearts and hands upon her.
A short service was conducted by Rev. J.H. Burrows at the house, on Thursday, March 2l, and the remains were taken to Winterset for interment where the funeral services were conducted by Rev. Follansbee, from the home of P.B. FARBELL, brother-in-law of the deceased.
A bereaved husband, mother, sister and numerous friends mourn the loss.
One less at home!
The charmed circle broken; a dear face
Missed day by day from its accustomed place;
But, cleansed and saved and perfected by grace,
One more in Heaven!
One less at home!
One voice of welcome hushed, and evermore
One farewell word unspoken; on the shore
Where parting comes not, one soul landed more --
One more in Heaven!
One less at home!
A sense of loss that meets us at the gate;
Within, a place unfilled and desolate;
And far away, our coming to wait
One more in Heaven!
One less at home!
This is not home, where, cramped in earthly mold,
Our sight of Christ is dim, our love is cold;
But there, where face to face we shall behold,
Is home and Heaven!
One more at home!
That home where separtion cannot be;
That home whence none is missed eternally;
Lord Jesus, grant us all a place with thee,
At home in Heaven.
