Many Chariton people were shocked Saturday by the death of MRS. S.W. MAUPIN, which occurred Friday evening at 5:l5 after a long illness from diabetes. The funeral services were held at the home on East Court Avenue, conducted by her Pastor, Dr. Chittenden, of the Presbyterian Church. The remains were taken on the south branch to Grant City, Mo., where at the home of her parents the last sad rites were said by Dr. Chittenden, assisted by the local pastor, the services being held on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, followed by interment in the family burying ground. MRS. MAUPIN leaves a husband and little son, to whom the sympathy of this community is extended. Though a resident of our city but a short time, the deceased had won the esteem and friendship of those with whom she became acquainted, by her refined, womanly manner. She was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church and prominently connected with the Royal Neighbors.

MRS. MAUPIN was known to a number of Leon people, MR. MAUPIN being a postal clerk on the Chariton-St. Joseph run, and when the early morning train was put on at first the postal clerks only ran between Leon and St. Joseph, and MR. and MRS. MAUPIN resided in this city.
