BETSY FRANCIS KNIGHT was born in Plainfield, Sullivan County, New Hampshire, April ll, l836, and died in Garden Grove, Iowa, August 3l, l900, being 64 years, 4 months and 20 days of age. She was married to NELSON MANCHESTER in l854. Of this union, there were five children born, three of whom are still living.

In the year l856, the deceased and her family moved to LaCrosse, Wis. After a residence of about eighteen months, another removal was made, this time to Minnesota. In the year l878, they came to Garden Grove, where they have continuously lived until the present time.

Sister MANCHESTER was converted and united with the M.E. Church in early life and has led an exemplary Christian life, constantly bearing witness in both word and action to the power and grace of the blessed Master in her soul. The departed suffered ill health for about three years. The last three months her illness took a more aggravated form and during the last month she was bedfast. In her suffering, she exhibited the utmost patience and resignation to the will of God. Death found her with her house set in order and waiting for the Master's summons.

The funeral services were conducted in the M.E. Church, September 2, l900, by her Pastor, Rev. I.N. Woodward and the interment was made in the Garden Grove Cemetery. "Mark the perfect man and behold the upright for the end of that man is peace."
