OBITUARY

DON FRANCIS MORRELL

 

Don Francis MORRELL, son of E. Ray and Gussie E. (FOLAND) MORRELL, was born Nov. 1, 1918 at home near Grand River, Iowa and died at his birthplace Sept. 14, 1982.

 

Don graduated from Grand River High School in 1936, and studied at the University of Iowa. he joined the United States Air Force in May 1942, and served in several South Pacific campaigns, with many decorations for service. [Don was a S-Sgt with the U. S. Army according to his military plaque at his gravesite. – SRB]

 

On April 1, 1943 he was united in marriage to Velma JARRARD in Washington, D. C. To this union three children were born. They farmed near Dahlonega, Ga. and in 1959 returned to Grand River to the family farm, now in the fourth generation.

 

Survivors include his widow, Velma; three sons: Chris, Canyonville, Ore.; Clint, Glenwood [Iowa]; Nick, Grand River; brother Walt, Fullerton, Ca.; two sisters: Hazel HACKER, Glendale, Ca. and Brenadine BURCHETT, Redwood Falls, Minn., three grandchildren, relatives and friends.
