John Martin Kopp was born in Wordenburg, German, January 27, 1831. He came to America with his parents at the age of eleven years and settled in Indiana. In the year 1852 he moved to Marion county, Iowa. In the year 1859 he moved to Harrison county, Missouri, where he has since resided. He enlisted in the civil war in 1861 and serviced his country three years.

He was married to Sarah A. Huffman, June 11, 1863. To this union were born four sons and three daughters. Two boys and two girls have preceded him to the other world. He leaves a wife, two sons - Charlie and Isaac - one daughter, Mrs. Hettie Poush, and five grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn their loss.

He was converted and united with Blythedale Christian Church, September 1, 1900, and lived a consistent Christian life.

He departed this life shortly before midnight November 7th, 1909. Funeral service was conducted by William Thompson, November 6th. Interment at Andover, Mo.
