JORDAN KOGER was born in Wayne County, Ky., and died in Leon, Ia., Feb. 7th, l900. His parents were both natives of Kentucky. He was raised to manhood in Clinton County, in his native State, whence he emigrated to Davis County, Mo. He was married in DeKalb County, Mo., Sept. l7, l843, to MISS ELIZABETH ANN SMITH, who died in March l2, l885. Sixteen children were born as a result of this union, eight of whom are living to mourn his loss. He was married a second time to SARAH BRANHAM, Oct. 20th, l886, of Albany, Gentry Co., Mo.

On Saturday, Jan. 27, MR. KOGER, while holding a rope tied to the top of a tree which was being cut down at his residence, received a severe fall by reason of the rope breaking, which confined him to his bed. On Sunday evening acute pneumonia set in, which resulted in his death. He was converted sixty years ago in Clinton County, Ky., when he united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, of which church he remained a faithful member until death. He was one of the grand old men of his church.

He was a loving husband, and an affectionate and indulgent father and after having served his day and generation, he "fell asleep" and he sleeps the sleep of the just. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Sitton, Pastor of the M.E. Church South, Eagleville, Mo., assisted by the Rev. Joseph Stephen, Pastor of the M.E. Church of this city. It was also under the auspices of the local Masonic Lodge, of which order he has been a member over thirty-four years.

Thus Star by Star declines
Till all have passed away.
