Obituary ~ Margaret Ann (Smith) Johnston
February 04, 1851 ~ May 09, 1905

The Lamoni Chronicle
Lamoni, Decatur County, Iowa

JOHNSTON ---- Mrs. Margaret Ann Johnson (sic, should be Johnston) was born at Hamilton, Canada, February 6, 1851, died at her home, Lamoni, Tuesday, May 9, aged 55 years, 3 months, and 3 days.

Deceased was married to Robert Johnson (sic) at St. Clair, Mich., June 1, 1872. To this union were born eight children, six of whom are living, all being present at the funeral except one daughter who resides in Canada. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson (sic) moved to Missouri in 1872, where they lived until the spring of 1899, when they moved to Lamoni, where they have since resided.

Mrs. Johnson (sic) had been in poor health for some time, afflicted with cancer. She suffered much during the last months, and death came as a relief. Her faith in the ordinances of the church of her youth, the L.D.S., was a source of much comfort to her in her closing days. She endured patiently the pain, and welcomed the release.

The funeral was from the home, Wednesday at three p.m., in charge of Elder John Smith, sermon by Elder Herman C. Smith, interment in Rosehill.
