Obituary ~ Ray Earl Jennings
May 10, 1889 ~ December 17, 1980

Ray Earl Jennings was born May 10, 1889 in Grand River, Iowa to David Alfred and Hattie Jane Evans, the eldest child in a family of eight, and died Dec. 17, 1980 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa, age 91 years, 7 months and 6 days.

In 1896, he moved with his parents to a farm in Ringgold County, farming with his father. He married Glee Palmer of Wellman, Iowa, Jan. 15, 1921. He bought the adjoining farm and lived there until he retired. In 1949, they moved to Grand River and made their home. After Glee's death in 1971, Ray lived alone. Age and health forced him to move to Westview Acres in 1978.

Ray was a member of the Grand River United Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death were [his] parents; three brothers: Clark, Ernest and Frank Jennings; and one sister, Florence Brammer.

Survivors are two brothers: Floyd of Creston, Iowa; Alvina Clayton, Corydon, Iowa; and sister, Doris Barnard, Des Moines.

[Interment was made at Grand River Cemetery.]
