Gloria Jeanne Judd
Gloria Jeanne Judd, daughter of Gertie Green and Marion Brauer, was born March 16, 1939 and passed away at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa from a massive brain aneurism on January 19, 1994 at the age of 54.
On May 10, 1960 she was united in marriage to Miles Ivan Judd. To this union three children were born: Shelley Jeannine, Miles David, and Kathryn Lynne. They were welcomed by 2 older sisters Esther and Laural. Miles and Jeanne shared 33 caring years together in Decatur County. Jeanne was a very loving and devoted wife and mom, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Jeanne enjoyed nature's beauty, (especially the flowers), going for walks and being outdoors -- even hanging up the laundry was a pleasure to her.
Jeanne was instrumental in getting the new Community Center in Leon running. She worked for S.C.I.C.A.P for 25 years and was one of the coordinators of the Decatur County Community Center. She enjoyed being around people and got along with everybody -- "she never knew a stranger!" Her favorite quote was "Don't fight -- life is too short."
Preceding Jeanne in death were her brother Kent, grandparents Hobert and Jessie Culley, and in-laws Everett and Esther Judd.
Jeanne is survived by her husand Miles and daughter Kathy of their home in Leon; daughter Shelley and son David and wife Brenda, all of Leon; Esther Hardy of Davis City, Iowa and Laural Slaughter and husband Jimmy of Harper's Ferry, West Virginia; 7 grandchildren: Michael, Eva, Angie, Scott, Jill, Matthew and Vanessa; 2 great grandchildren: P.J. and Chelsea; father and mother Archie and Gertie Green of Lamoni, Iowa; sister Gail Polson of Des Moines; Amy of Lamoni; brother David Green of St. Louis, Missouri; niceces, nephews, other relatives; and many many friends.
Jeanne will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
