LUCINDA E. HOGUE was born in Fayette County, Ohio, February l7, l839,
and died at her home in Van Wert August 24, l90l. She was joined in
marriage with SOLOMON HIDY, February 29, l86l. To this marriage six
sons and one daughter were born. Only three sons are now living--J.W.,
CHARLES and GEORGE. The family came to Iowa and settled in Clarke
County in l878 and have lived in Clarke and Decatur Counties ever since.

The husband died in Clarke County about four years ago. Sister HIDY,
who had been a member of the Protestant Methodist Church many years, was
an unassuming, consistent Christian lady, highly esteemed by all who
knew her. Funeral services were attended by a large company of
neighbors and friends, after which the remains were borne to the
beautiful Green Bay Cemetery and buried beside those of her husband,
there to rest until the trump of God shall sound. We hope to meet her
in the haven of eternal repose.
